maybe-she-has-a-thing-about-dirt:
I am unhappy that the only way we are formally introduced to Queen Iðunn and King Akðar is by the Runes on their Tombstones.
I’m glad that they were finally translated, and now for something that might be of interest to fans, writers, RPers, etc.
The Queen’s name - Iðunn can be angelicised as Ithunn, or Idunn/Idun. Iðunn was the name of the Norse goddess of apples, and eternal youth. The name itself also means ‘youthful’, ‘eternal youth’ ‘again to love’
Akðar can likely be angelicized as Akthar, however I’m not finding much in the way of names, except that it rhymes with Garðar. Did some digging, and perhaps the king’s name is supposed to be Garðar.
Garðar - Icelandic form of Garðarr - Old Norse form of Gerðarr which means; (in a way) Enclosure/house - army/warrior. So the King’s name likely means ‘Warrior of the Enclosure, or warrior of the house’
Garðar
